Happy Valentine’s Day!

Shannon from Corky Friendz here. I have been busy in the studio this past week creating some custom pieces for our happy Etsy customers. Now that the orders are out the door, here I am; thinking about the next whimsical character I should create.

The past six months has been a time of transition and growth on a personal & professional level. I am what you call…corky:) Born and raised in Portland, I grew up creating. Painting garden rocks for my mom’s work friends, selling art in local school shows; however, nothing could equip me with the knowledge that one day I would make a whole line of whimsical wine cork gifts. Creating custom gifts while using a renewable and locally sourced material such as wine corks has been AWESOME! Sasquatch Brewery, Macindoe Family Cellars, & Moulton Falls Winery where some of the very first to donate their corks to my cause. Getting to meet and have the support of such wonderful Oregon businesses has kept this ball a rolling. After the birth of our son this past August, I decided to hang up the 9-5 day job shoes and continue building my corky empire. What started out as a little hobby has fueled its way into becoming a new Portland handmade gift shop.

Now that I am able to dedicate more time to my craft, the gears of fine tuning are finally happening. Corky Friendz is getting a face lift! Our buddy Emily Bishop was a master at creating a new custom logo for CFZ & designed our DIY wine craft kits. We also have brand new product boxes for our wedding cake toppers and ornaments on their way with promo mailers in the works for our friends and partners.

This spring you can expect to see the Corky Friendz website complete (currently under construction) with more listings as I continue to transition our products from the Etsy shop to here. We will also be posting a calendar of events, partnering up with a few locals like Timbersmithx for some collaborations and giveaways. Oh, and I forgot to mention how we will be featuring a few gorgeous wine cork weddings on the blog too!

Until next time.

-Cheers!
